Transport

Bus

Regular bus services from the airport are provided by line 200, which departs Terminal 2 and picks up passengers at Terminal 1, then goes towards Madrid, terminating at the Avenida de America Interchange, where you’ll hop on the Metro to get into the centre. #200 departs Terminal 2 in 10-minute intervals from 6:00 in the morning until 11:30 at night, and in 15- to 20-minute intervals on weekends and holidays, from 7:00 in the morning until 11:30 at night. You can buy a 10-trip ticket at newspaper stands, tobacco shops, and of course inside the Metro stations. One of these costs about six Euro. A one-trip ticket costs one Euro, and you can purchase one of these on the bus itself.

Metro

The Barajas Airport has a Metro station at Terminal 2. Trains depart approximately every five minutes from the hours of 6:00 in the morning until 2:00 at night. In only 10-15 minutes, this line will take you directly to the Nuevos Ministerios Metro station in the centre of Madrid. It’s a great idea to purchase a 10-trip ticket for about six Euro, as they’re usable on both the Metro and the bus, and cost about half as much as ten one-trip tickets. These 10-trip tickets can be found at newspaper stands, tobacco shops and of course, inside the Metro stations.

Taxis

Though taxis are the most convenient option for some people, they’re still a bit expensive for the rest of us. Outside of the Barajas Airport, you’ll find the taxi stands. Don’t take any offers from drivers who approach you inside the terminal, because these are often illegal operators and you’ll probably get cheated. Depending upon the traffic levels, It can cost up to 25 Euro to travel anywhere in the centre. What’s more, added charges can include a four-Euro surcharge to go to or from the airport and a two-Euro fee to go to or from the Ifema Trade Fair. There shouldn’t be any charges for baggage or even pets, however. Keep in mind that the buses and Metro lines are much cheaper, and many taxi drivers will try to rip you off.
